Early Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program – Alapan 1 Elementary School
This program focuses on capacitating the Kindergarten to Grade 3 teachers and instructional leaders on the basic knowledge and pedagogical skills in literacy and numeracy and in establishing and managing a school-based mentoring/learning partnership program as a mechanism for continuous professional development of teachers/mentors, teachers/mentees, school managers and instructional leaders and an avenue for teachers to listen to storytelling and read-aloud activities from the best storytellers through the School-Based Learning Action Cell, per DepEd Order No. 12, s. 2015.
This program gave a chance for Kindergarten to Grade 3 Teachers to have additional training and support mechanisms. In recent studies, early learning ages are considered as the fundamental foundation for the progressive learning and skills development of the child. Early Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program (ELLN) aims the following objectives:
1. Improve reading and numeracy skills of the K to 3 learners following the K to 12 programs;
2. Strengthen teacher’s capability to teach and assess reading and numeracy skills effectively;
3. Improve management and administration of the program;
4. Establish a school-based mentoring/learning partnership program thru SLAC.
Alapan 1 Elementary School has been preparing for these learning innovations since the start of School Year 2020-2021. To fulfill the first objective above requires the teacher’s cooperation. During the meeting of ELLN Groups dated March 14, 2022, Ms. Yham Elpedes-Suarez (ELLN Coordinator) discussed the objectives of ELLN’s intervention activities. This interventions will focus on the different least mastered competencies for language, literacy, and numeracy within the primary levels. According to Dr. Divina Narvaez (Principal IV), every level from Kindergarten to Grade 3 must implement their planned learning activities under this project. Some of the activities under this project are namely Ay, Kaya ko Pala – Animated Learning Guide for Kindergarten; 22k Bilang; Pagbasa Mo, i-Video Mo; and MathSaya.
