Walang Pasok: April 6-10, Long Weekend

To promote the “holiday economics” that had previously been put into place under Gloria Macapagal-administration, Arroyo’s the Palace changed some dates for holidays in the country.

In the last Proclamation 90 series 2022, the Malacañang released a revised list of regular and special non-working holidays in the Philippines. In this proclamation, the government promotes “holiday economics” to help tourism sectors.

“There is a need to adjust these holidays pursuant to the principle of holiday economics wherein a longer weekend will help encourage domestic travel and increase tourism expenditures in the country,” read Proclamation No. 90 s. 2022.

Thus, it is good news for most of the employees to know that the upcoming Holy Week will be experienced with long weekend. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared April 6 and 7 as regular holidays and April 10, 2023 a regular holiday to mark Araw ng Kagitingan, which falls on a Sunday. Thus, we can enjoy long weekend from April 6-10, 2023 (Walang Pasok).

The long weekend will be extended from April 6 to April 10.
• April 6 (Thursday) – Maundy Thursday
• April 7 (Friday) – Good Friday
• April 8-9 (Saturday-Sunday)
• April 10 (Monday) – Moved date for Day of Valor/Araw ng Kagitingan

The Proclamation 90 series 2023 included the statement:
WHEREAS, the commemoration of Araw ng Kagitingan (April 9), which is a regular holiday, falls on a Sunday for the year 2023. To enable our countrymen to avail of the benefits of a longer weekend, Monday, 10 April 2023, in lieu of Sunday, 9 April 2023 may be declared as a non-working holiday, provided that the historical significance of Araw ng Kagitingan is maintained;
