Schools Division Office Imus City Nurses Maybelle B Animas and Jacky M. Rom monitor the Comprehensive Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in Schools (Wash in Schools) DepEd Program of Alapan 1 ES with a good impression about the updates of the said program from the last visit years ago. “From 0 star to 2 stars, nakakatuwa ang improvement ng paaralan natin dahil well evident ang mga files natin about WINS”, according to Ms. Tess A. Gelera, school coordinator. She also added that Animas and Rom will be visiting again on March 23 to follow up on the sanitary permit through the effort of Ms. Karen Bendiola, teacher of the said school.




According to the Department of Education Order No. 10 s. 2016 entitled Policy and Guidelines for the Comprehensive Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in Schools (WinS) Program, the schools must uphold the promotion of correct hygiene and sanitation practices among school children and a clean environment in and around schools to keep learners safe and healthy. This policy aims to:
a. ensure correct knowledge and understanding among learners of effective hygiene and sanitation projects;
b. improve equitable access to safe water, adequate toilets, and handwashing facilities;
c. improve hygiene and sanitation practices among the learners to enable them to develop life-long positive hygiene and sanitation behaviors;
d. ensure that schools are kept clean and safe through school-based solid waste management, proper drainage, the elimination of breeding grounds for mosquitoes to prevent vector-borne diseases, and food sanitation; and
e. engage public and private partners for program implementation and sustainability.
