Alapan 1 Elementary School is considered a very large elementary school. It offers Kindergarten to Grade 6, Alternative Learning System (ALS), and Special Needs Education. Also, it features an inclusive, efficient, and conducive learning environment for learners. The school reflects the Department of Education’s commitment to the principle of Education for All.

The history of the school can be traced back to its location and natural surroundings. This place used to be a dense forest rich in natural resources. Additionally, people from nearby towns and barangays gathered raw materials from here for furniture-making, agriculture, house construction, and medicinal purposes.

Alapan I Elementary School, located in Alapan I-B, Imus City, Cavite, holds a significant place in Philippine history. The school is situated on the historic site of the Battle of Alapan, which occurred on May 28, 1898. Meanwhile, Filipino forces marked a pivotal moment in the nation’s struggle for independence by unfurling the Philippine flag—sewn in Hong Kong by Marcella Agoncillo—for the first time in victory. Additionally, the name Alapan comes from the shortened Tagalog word “Pinangangalapan,” which means “a place where people procure things”. In 182,2 people began to settle in the area.

Peer teaching (READING PAL)

Perhaps the most pressing challenge the school faces is ensuring that all learners become competent readers. Thus, learners who experienced problems in reading quickly fall behind their more skilled classmates in their ability to decode and comprehend text.
Because reading is a priority improvement area in the School Improvement Plan, Alapan I Elementary School implements peer teaching by assigning each learner a reading pal.

Planning, preparation, and implementation go hand in hand in Alapan I Elementary School’s Oplan Balik Eskwela (OBE) as they welcome the new school year’s learners in the new normal set-up.

“If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Careful planning played a vital role in the initial stages of our OBE, especially since Alapan I is my new station. Additionally, I have to study all the nooks and crooks of the school for us to have a better chance of a successful school year”, the new school head.
