School-Based Management Validation – Alapan 1 Elementary School
The school continues to facilitate its responsibilities towards DepEd’s goal for decentralized management. School-Based Management (SBM) is a response to BESRA KRT 1 – enabling and empowering school stakeholders to manage their own affairs for improved delivery of educational services in a sustainable manner. As such, this component is focused on the strengthening of support systems including governance, advisory, and partnership mechanisms for SBM through practical experience in application activities. The application experience will be further enhanced through a range of capability-building activities.
Alapan 1 Elementary School is one of those various schools included in Level 1 Validation. This validation happened last March 11, 2022, thru online teleconferencing using Zoom Meeting. The School-Based Management is headed by our principal, Dr. Divina Narvaez with the help of its coordinator, Ms. Marilou Cenita (Master Teacher II). During the validation, Ms. Matea-Alvyn Trinidad (Senior Education Specialist) of Schools Division of Imus City – School Governance and Operations Division joined the meeting that was started exactly 9:00 AM of the said day. The School-Based Management’s preparation of all the required MOVs and documentation started a few months earlier with the guidance of the lead person of each principle. Our SBM Coordinator Marilou Cenita expressed heartwarming gratitude to all the members of the group especially Mr. Arly Flores (Chairman, Principle 1 – Leadership and Governance), Ms. Riza Quizon (Chairman, Principle 3 – Accountability and Continuous Improvement), and Ms. Cynthia F. Morcoso (Chairman, Management and Resources). Through their tough efforts, our validators commended us with good feedback. “To Ma’am Marilou Cenita, to all chairman of each principle, and to all our teachers who made this possible, your support is highly appreciated and valued. Salute and Kudos to all of you.” Dr. Navaez told in her statement to express appreciation for those valuable efforts.

SBM provides principals, teachers, students, and parents greater control over the education process by giving them responsibility for decisions about the budget, personnel, and curriculum. Through the involvement of teachers, parents, and other community members in these key decisions, SBM can create more effective learning environments for children.
