DepEd Order 37 s 2022 is NOT YET IN EFFECT

As many LGU’s suspended classes today, September 2, 2022, due to Typhoon Henry, they used as reference and basis the latest released guidelines of the Department of Education. Under DepEd Order 37 s. 2022 also known as “Guidelines on the Cancellation or Suspension of Classes and Work in Schools in the Event of Disasters and Other Natural Calamities“, DepEd gives more to thier policy “To minimize the health and safety risks brought about by disasters and other natural calamities, the Department recognizes that the suspension of classes and work during emergencies remain to be necessary in upholding the physical and mental well-being of learners and school personnel.”

However, the Department of Education (DepEd) said the new guidelines for the suspension of classes in DepEd Order 37 s 2022 is “NOT YET IN EFFECT” as they have not been filed with the Office of the National Administrative Register of the UP Law Center (ONAR).”

According to DepEd spokesperson Michael Poa, the order was posted as an advance copy with an electronic signature on the DepEd website.

Poa announced that DepEd will remove the DO from the website and re-upload it after posting it to ONAR. Just hours earlier, Department of Education Website, removed the said “DepEd Order 37 s. 2022” in as announced by Spokesperson Poa.

Included in the advance copy of DepEd Order 37 s. 2022 this provision “This Order shall take effect immediately after its publication in the DepEd website as well as its filing with the Office of the National Administrative Registrar (ONAR) at the University of the Philippines (UP) Law Center, UP Diliman, Quezon City.” It is clear that the said order must be filled first in ONAR to take effect.
