The DepEd School Calendar for 2025-2026 scheduled the 3rd Periodical Test on January 22 and 23, 2025. The 3rd Quarter Periodical Test (SY 2025-2026) is a set of test questionnaires for Quarter 3 based on TOS made for Grade 9. In DepEd’s definition, a “periodical test” evaluates learners’ understanding, skills, and overall progress. These tests are the tools used for a clear picture of the student’s learning and areas where further support may be needed. Periodical tests are designed to assess the needed intervention and remediation for every learner.
For Grade 9 in the 3rd Quarter under the Matatag Curriculum, students are assessed in Filipino, Mathematics, Science, Araling Panlipunan, and English. For example, learners demonstrate their ability to analyze texts, engage in literary criticism, and write persuasive essays in the Filipino subject. Mathematics focuses on quadratic equations, polynomials, and solving problems related to geometry and trigonometry. In Science, students explore topics like forces, motion, energy, and chemical bonding. In Araling Panlipunan, they study Philippine history, government structures, and the nation’s role in global issues, including social, political, and economic aspects.
While students in English work on advanced grammar, reading comprehension, and writing more complex essays. The Table of Specifications (TOS) and Answer Key support these periodical tests, ensuring that assessments align with the curriculum standards and making it easier for students and teachers to track academic progress. It’s important to remember that assessments are not designed to be a source of stress, but rather a valuable tool for measuring progress and identifying areas for improvement. By approaching them with a positive mindset, you can use them to your advantage and take your learning to the next level.
