The Career Service Examination – Pen and Paper Test (CSE‑PPT) is a nationwide exam conducted by the Civil Service Commission (CSC). Passing the exam qualifies an individual for government positions that require professional or subprofessional eligibility. Meanwhile, the results of the March 2026 Civil Service Exam (CSE) – Professional and Subprofessional levels on May 5-7, 2026. Furthermore, this test is one of the primary eligibility requirements for a government job position. This is also called Civil Service Eligibility.
The Civil Service Exam remains one of the toughest nationwide assessments. For instance, in the March 2026 CSE, only 47,449 out of 329,465 examinees passed — translating to a 14.40% passing rate. This figure highlights how competitive and challenging the exam truly is, even compared to other professional licensure tests like the Bar Exam and the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET). Results in the March 2026 Civil Service Exam are released by the Civil Service Commission in 60-70 days after the exam. The March 2026 CSE‑PPT had two levels (Professional Level and Subprofessional Level). Both exams were administered in English and Filipino.
The Professional Level covered the following areas:
1. Numerical Ability – Basic operations and word problems
2. Analytical Ability – Word association, identifying assumptions and conclusions, logic, and data interpretation
3. Verbal Ability – Grammar and correct usage, vocabulary, paragraph organization, and reading comprehension
The Subprofessional Level included:
1. Numerical Ability – Basic operations and word problems
2. Clerical Ability – Filing and spelling
3. Verbal Ability – Grammar and correct usage, vocabulary, paragraph organization, and reading comprehension
To pass either level of the CSE‑PPT, an examinee must obtain a general rating of at least 80.00%.
