Walang Pasok in Several Areas on January 5, 2026 (Monday) Due Presidential Proclamations

Several areas in the Philippines have suspended classes and work on Monday, January 5, 2026, following official announcements from local government units (LGUs). These suspensions aim to ensure public safety and support the smooth conduct of regional activities in the affected communities.

As of this writing, the following LGUs have officially confirmed Walang Pasok for all levels in both public and private schools: Lingayen, Pangasinan, as declared through a local proclamation posted on the LGU’s official Facebook page; and Bauang, La Union, which announced a Special Non-Working Day on January 5, 2026 under Proclamation No. 1114, based on the municipal government’s official Facebook announcement.

Reason for Class Suspensions

Local governments declared the suspension of classes and work in select areas on Monday, January 5, 2026. They issued these announcements to ensure local events and official activities run smoothly in the affected towns. Local authorities emphasized that the temporary suspension aims to ensure public safety, manage local activities efficiently, and minimize inconvenience to students, teachers, employees, and the general public.

By suspending classes and work, LGUs seek to allow communities to participate in or accommodate scheduled local programs without disruptions. Please rely only on official LGU, school, and government announcements for accurate updates on class and work suspensions.

General Weather Forecast for January 5, 2026

The shear line continues to affect Southern Luzon and brings scattered rains and thunderstorms to the Bicol Region, Western Visayas, MIMAROPA, Quezon, Laguna, and Batangas. These areas may experience moderate to heavy rains, which can cause flash floods or landslides. Because of these risks, local officials may suspend classes, especially in flood-prone and mountainous areas. At the same time, the Northeast Monsoon brings steady rains over Metro Manila, CAR, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and the rest of CALABARZON, increasing the chance of weather-related class disruptions.

Meanwhile, the Ilocos Region is expected to experience only light rainfall with no major impact anticipated. However, the rest of the country will experience isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies. Severe thunderstorms may still cause localized flooding. Strong to gale-force winds will affect Northern Luzon and the eastern parts of Central and Southern Luzon, producing rough to very rough seas. These conditions may also influence school suspension decisions, especially in coastal and high-risk areas where weather conditions can worsen quickly.
