As the Department of Education officially starts School Year 2025–2026 on June 16, 2025, teachers across the country are busy preparing. We understand that it might be challenging for you to get everything ready before the start of classes. For example, your Daily Lesson Log might need significant revisions after a year or require updates to align with new curricular trends and directions brought by the Matatag Curriculum in other grade levels. Remember, other grade levels are now following the revised K to 10 MATATAG Program with streamlined competencies. To support this transition, we’re sharing the updated Grade 9 Daily Lesson Log (DLL) for Quarter 2, ready-to-use, editable. These DLLs are aligned with the old MELCs-based K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum.
Whether you’re a seasoned teacher or new to Grade 9, these DLLs help you deliver organized, effective, and learner-centered instruction. It is essential to be aware of some of the key features of the DLL. The Daily Lesson Log (DLL) is a teacher’s tool used to plan and organize daily classroom instruction. It outlines the lesson’s objectives, content, learning activities, assessment methods, and required materials. The Department of Education (DepEd) requires the DLL to ensure that lessons align with the curriculum standards and promote effective teaching and learning in the classroom.
The main focus of MELCs for Grade 9 in Quarter 2
DepEd reduced the original K–12 Basic Education Program into the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs) during the COVID-19 pandemic and continues to implement them for Grade 9 in School Year 2025–2026. As other grade levels now follow the MATATAG Curriculum, Grade 9 teachers need to remember the target learning outcomes specified in the MELCs.

The target outcomes of Grade 9 Quarter 2 in the MELCs focus on strengthening students’ analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and ability to apply concepts in real-life situations. Learners deepen their understanding of interconnected systems, express ideas effectively through various forms of communication, and appreciate cultural and environmental influences. The competencies also aim to develop responsible decision-making, collaboration, and creativity across learning areas, preparing students for more advanced concepts in the succeeding quarters.
Overview of Learning Areas for Grade 9 in Quarter 2 (Based on MELCs)
Always remember, Grade 9 will still use the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs) as the curriculum for School Year 2025–2026. This will be the last school year for MELCs, as the MATATAG Curriculum is about to be implemented. We want to inform you that the Daily Lesson Logs (DLLs) uploaded here are based on the MELCs. However, we made the necessary revisions to update these DLLs to reflect the latest changes in DepEd policies. We are unable to individually enumerate all the competencies used in our Daily Lesson Logs. Nevertheless, you can see below the content and performance standards for Grade 9 in Quarter 2.
