These DLLs follow the streamlined competencies of the K–10 MATATAG Curriculum and are simple to edit, personalize, and use for smoother lesson planning and classroom management.
The Daily Lesson Log (DLL) is a vital tool for teachers to guide their classroom activities toward the target learning competencies. This quality of the DLL is essential to ensure that classroom interactions align with the Matatag Curriculum Framework. Due to the changes brought by the new curriculum, preparing a DLL has become more challenging, as most teachers are starting from scratch. That’s why we are here to help by providing ready-to-use Daily Lesson Logs (DLL) for Grade 8, Quarter 3. Make sure to read this full article to understand the content, strategies, and competencies used in our DLL.
What’s New in the MATATAG Curriculum for Grade 8?
The are many expected changes in our way of teaching and planning classroom interactions. It is essential to understand the frameworks of the Matatag Curriculum to create effective learning activities. This focuses on foundational learning areas, including literacy, numeracy, values education, and “makabansa” or nationhood. This ensures that learners can master essential concepts without being overwhelmed.

The curriculum integrates 21st-century skills, critical thinking, communication, creativity, and digital literacy. It also places high value on character formation, peace education, and disaster preparedness. The Department of Education reflected this direction in educational competency targets by revising Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao into GMRC (Good Manners and Right Conduct).
Another notable feature is its inclusive framework, designed to cater to learners with diverse backgrounds and needs, including those from indigenous communities and alternative education systems. The MATATAG Curriculum is being implemented gradually, with Grade 8 scheduled for rollout in School Year 2025–2026. Furthermore, DepEd has committed to continuously refining the curriculum based on feedback from experts and stakeholders.
