  1. The Department of Education (DepEd), through the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Legal Affairs, will conduct the Second Mandatory Continuing Lega l Education (MCLE) Seminar for Department of Education Attorneys on May 23-24 and 30-31, 2022, via the online platform Zoom. The Institute for the Administration of Justice of the University of the Philippines Law Center (UPIAJ) will serve to facilitate the activity.
  2. The conduct of the seminar is in accordance with the Department’s thrust of institutional capacity building and is part of the efforts of the Legal Affairs Strand to capacitate the lawyers to effectively and efficiently handle the legal concerns brought to their respective offices.
  3. The 2nd MCLE Seminar aims to
  • a. keep the lawyers abreast of law and jurisprudence in the field of education and government service in general;
  • b. inform them of developments in the legal profession, particularly in the ethics thereof;
  • c. enhance their skills and knowledge on matters relevant to their day­ to-day work in DepEd (e.g., procurement, decision – writing, conduct of fact-finding and preliminary investigation, etc.);
  • d. assist the lawyers in complying with the MCLE requirement set out in Supreme Court Bar Matter No. 850; and
  • e. improve the overall discharge of the legal services and mandated functions of the Department.
  1. The seminar will be held through the online platform Zoom to comply with the restrictions contained in the Amended Guidelines on the Nationwide Implementation of the Alert Level System for COVID-19 Response issued by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and pursuant to Board Resolution No. 08-2019 of the MCLE Board of Governors, which allows MCLE-accredited providers to conduct MCLE online. The list of requirements/guidelines from the UP IAJ to be complied with or observed during the MCLE seminar is provided in Enclosure No. 1.
  2. Participants in the event include the attorneys of the Legal Affairs Strand in the central, regional, and school’s division offices of DepEd. Invitation will also be extended to other lawyers in other strands/offices in the central office and the various field offices in the regions and schools divisions.
  3. Participants must register by accomplishing the Google Form () on or before May 18, 20 22. The link to and details of the Zoom meeting, and all other communications pertaining to the seminar will be sent to the respective email addresses of the participants. Thus, participants are advised to make sure that all information entered in the forms are correct and final.
  4. The tentative program of the MCLE seminar is contained in Enclosure No. 2.
