Face-to-Face Classes in the Philippines for School Year 2022-2023 – Alapan 1 Elementary School
Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Leonor Briones on Monday urged all public and private schools to return to holding face-to-face classes in the Philippines for the upcoming School Year 2022-2023.
“So, right now, ang sinasabi ko 73.28 percent na ng public schools at saka meron ding tayong mga private schools na inu-urge natin, ine-encourage natin na bumalik na sila sa face-to-face,” Briones said in a Laging Handa press briefing.
(So, at the moment, what I am saying is 73.28 percent of public schools and there are also private schools that we urge and encourage to come back face-to-face classes.)

In the statement, the Department of Education’s Secretary expected that other public and private schools will next to implement limited face-to-face classes. Currently, a DepEd official said about 73 percent of public schools have already resumed limited face-to-face classes.
“By June, which is already a few days away from now, sa next academic school year, ine-expect natin na fully 100 percent na ang pag-implement ng face-to-face classes in the Philippines,” Secretary Leonor Briones added.
(In June, just a few days from now, for the next academic year, we expect to be 100 percent fully engaged in face-to-face classes.)
Asked to clarify what the Department of Education meant by fully opening face-to-face classes, DepEd Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio said they encouraged all schools to hold personal learning.

“Ang ibig pong sabihin natin ay hinihikayat na natin ang lahat ng paaralan na magsagawa ng face-to-face classes pero ang tinitignan po namin na blended, may face-to-face na mga araw, at may araw na papayagan na nasa mga bahay pa rin natututo ang mga bata,” San Antonio explained.
(This means we encourage all schools to implement classes face-to-face but we are looking to have blended form of learning, where they are allowed to have days for face-to-face learning and days for classes at home.)
