As part of the commemoration of National Teachers’ Month, the Department of Education announced that teachers will get a 1000 pesos incentive.

Poa stated that on October 5, in the National Teachers’ Day, the DepEd would conduct a program to honor the sacrifices of our Pilipino Teachers.

“Yes po. We will continue with the P1,000 incentive para sa pagpupugay sa ating mga teachers [to honor our teachers],” he said.

Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte praised teachers during the National Teachers’ Month opening ceremony on Tuesday for their work and sacrifices in educating the next generation.

The incentive is part of the Department’s campaign of promoting the welfare of Pilipino Teachers. Duterte stated that she was inspired by the teachers’ resolve to continue teaching students despite the difficulties brought on by the pandemic.

Perhaps the most pressing challenges the school faces are that of ensuring that all learners become competent readers. Learners who experienced problems in reading quickly fall behind their more skilled classmates in their ability to decode and comprehend text. The initiative is in response to the rapidly changing learning environment of present and future learners and will introduce aggressive reforms to globalize the quality of basic education in the Philippines.

“We always remind ourselves that our constitutional mandate to provide every Filipino not only access to education but to basic quality education. We have realized that we are facing the reality that we still have much to do in responding to the constitutional mandate as far as quality education is concerned,” Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones explained.
