The Department of Education has fully implemented the MATATAG Curriculum. It will introduce revised and streamlined competencies for Grade 1. The updated curriculum is also based on the K to 12 Program. Additionally, the MATATAG Curriculum places greater emphasis on foundational skills in Grade 1, such as reading, writing, numeracy, and values education. Given this, most of our previous teaching resources, including the Daily Lesson Log (DLL), need to be refreshed and improved. Primarily, revision of the DLL is needed to align with the revised curriculum. This page provides what you need most: the Grade 1 Daily Lesson Log (DLL) for Quarter 2 in School Year 2025–2026, aligned with the MATATAG Curriculum.
The Daily Lesson Logs provided here are personally crafted by teachers whose expertise in each Grade 1 subject area is highly commendable. They apply flexible teaching methodologies suitable for a diverse group of learners. The DLLs we offer are the latest in terms of layout and composition, aligned with the implementing guidelines of the Matatag Curriculum. For example, the parts of each Daily Lesson Log include the Pre-lesson, Lesson Proper, and Post-lesson components. You can also be assured that the competencies used are derived from the revised curriculum.
Overview of the Grade 1 MATATAG Curriculum
The Department of Education included the Grade 1 MATATAG Curriculum as part of its restructured K to 12 program. Secretary Sara Duterte conducted in-depth inquiries and revealed that the original Grade 1 Curriculum under the K to 12 program. The findings reveal that the Grade 1 curriculum overloads students and neglects the development of basic learning skills. The Department initiated the transition to the new curriculum in School Year 2024–2025. Then, we plan to fully implement the Matatag Curriculum this year.
The notable changes brought by the Matatag Curriculum in Grade 1 include the complete removal of the Mother Tongue subject. Also, MAPEH or Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health has emerged of the remaining subject areas. Furthermore, the DepEd has enhanced and renamed Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao to Good Moral and Right Conduct, similar to the subject offered in the 1990s. They have also renamed Araling Panlipunan to Makabansa to promote national identity and patriotism among learners.
Additionally, they have removed and restructured the two language subjects, Filipino and English, to focus solely on learning foundational skills. The department has merged these subjects under a new subject called Language, while students learn to apply these skills practically in Reading and Literacy.
Grade 1 Daily Lesson Logs (DLL) for Quarter 2 based on Matatag Curriculum
The Grade 1 lessons for Quarter 2 follow the specified content and performance standards. While we can’t provide a detailed list of competencies here, you can find them in our prepared Matatag Curriculum Guide for Grade 1.
