What’s New in the Matatag Kindergarten Curriculum?
As the school year draws to a close, Kindergarten learners dive into Quarter 4 of the MATATAG Curriculum, where learning becomes more integrated and hands-on. Children strengthen their literacy and language skills by recognizing letters, reading simple words, and expressing themselves through short stories and conversations. In mathematics, they practice counting, classifying, and solving simple problems, using real objects to understand numbers and quantities. Teachers guide them to explore the environment, learning about landforms, bodies of water, weather, and natural resources. These activities help children connect classroom learning with their everyday surroundings while fostering curiosity and critical thinking.
Quarter 4 also emphasizes values, social-emotional growth, and creative expression. Children learn to cooperate, share, and show responsibility through group tasks and community-oriented projects. They develop fine motor and physical skills through drawing, cutting, role-playing, and outdoor activities. Art, music, and movement reinforce both creativity and concept learning, making lessons enjoyable and meaningful. With hands-on experiences, guided exploration, and active participation, learners end the year ready for Grade 1, equipped with foundational skills, confidence, and a love for learning.
Tips for Effective Use of DLL
It is recommended that you always review the competencies covered in the Daily Lesson Log (DLL) you have downloaded. Revise the content, activities, and other parts of the DLL if necessary to ensure effective teaching. We also want to emphasize the importance of localizing your lessons. Adding localization creates a greater sense of inclusivity for your learners. Whenever possible, adapt the DLL to reflect your own teaching context and identity.
Furthermore, we advise our users of these DLLs to report any inconsistencies or irrelevant content they may find. Simply email us at ict@alapan1es.com, and we will take the necessary steps to review and address your report. Lastly, check your printer settings before printing, as the document may not be fully compatible with all word processing software. These Kindergarten Week 1–9 DLL documents were created using the latest version of Microsoft Word 365, which may cause slight layout issues when opened in earlier versions of Microsoft Office.
