Grade 1 Daily Lesson Log (DLL) – Quarter 4 SY 2025–2026 | Updated MATATAG Curriculum Guide

Quarter 4 of the Grade 1 MATATAG Curriculum brings learning to life by helping young learners connect classroom lessons with real-world experiences. At this stage, teachers strengthen foundational skills in reading, writing, and numeracy through more meaningful and engaging activities. Learners read short texts with better understanding, write simple sentences with confidence, and apply basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, and problem-solving in daily situations. The curriculum also integrates values education and socio-emotional learning, allowing children to express ideas, work with classmates, and build positive habits both in and out of school.

This quarter also highlights hands-on, learner-centred activities that encourage curiosity and independence. Teachers guide pupils through interactive lessons in science, health, and social studies that focus on observation, exploration, and care for self, others, and the environment. Music, arts, and physical education remain essential, helping learners develop creativity, coordination, and self-expression. By the end of Quarter 4, the MATATAG Curriculum ensures that Grade 1 learners feel more confident, capable, and ready to move forward—academically, socially, and emotionally.

Importance of Daily Lesson Logs (DLL)

The Daily Lesson Log (DLL) is a crucial part of the teaching-learning process, serving as a structured planning tool. Through this tool, teachers can reflect on the expected outcomes of their interactions with learners. The teachers must craft their DLL to align and create classroom activities that address the curriculum standards. It is a way for the school to ensure learning effectiveness and organisational consistency.

The key roles of the DLL in the teaching-learning process include instructional planning, consistency, and innovation. Also, it is a tool for classroom management and time efficiency in facilitating the learning process. Thus, preparing the DLL for Quarter 3 of Grade 1 based on the Matatag Curriculum is a crucial part of a teacher’s job description and also serves as evidence of their professional skills. Teachers must regularly revisit their teaching practices and make necessary changes to their DLLs when needed.
