As we begin the first quarter of School Year 2025–2026, it’s essential to prepare our learners for meaningful assessment. To support teachers and parents, we are providing Grade 5 1st Periodical Tests with TOS (Table of Specifications) for all core subjects. These tests are aligned with the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs) and the updated MATATAG Curriculum, ensuring that students are evaluated based on what truly matters in their learning journey.
Curriculum of Grade 5 in K-12
The Grade 5 K-12 curriculum in the Philippines is designed to help students develop the knowledge, skills, and values they need to be successful in their future studies and careers. It is a spiral curriculum, meaning that students learn about the same topics at each grade level, but with increasing depth and complexity.
The Grade 5 curriculum is divided into seven learning areas:
- Languages, Literature, and Communication: This learning area focuses on developing students’ language and communication skills in both Filipino and English. Students learn to read, write, and speak effectively, as well as to listen critically and appreciate different forms of literature.
- Mathematics: This learning area helps students develop their mathematical knowledge and skills. Students learn to solve problems using different mathematical concepts and operations. They also learn to think critically and creatively about mathematics.
- Science: This learning area introduces students to the basic concepts of science, such as biology, chemistry, and physics. Students learn about the natural world and how it works. They also learn to conduct scientific investigations and to think critically about scientific information.
- Araling Panlipunan: This learning area helps students develop their understanding of society and their place in it. Students learn about history, government, economics, and culture. They also learn to think critically about social issues and to participate in civic life.
- Physical Education and Health: This learning area helps students develop their physical fitness and health knowledge. Students learn about different physical activities and how to stay healthy. They also learn about the importance of nutrition and hygiene.
- Technology and Livelihood Education: This learning area helps students develop the knowledge and skills they need to prepare for their future careers. Students learn about different technologies and how to use them. They also have the opportunity to explore different career options.
