Preparing a lesson plan before the start of classes is a key requirement of the Department of Education (DepEd). Thoughtful planning helps teachers identify clear learning objectives and sequence activities that make classroom sessions more engaging and purposeful. A well-structured plan also allows educators to track student progress and ensure that lessons lead toward the intended learning outcomes. To assist teachers in this process, the Daily Lesson Log (DLL) for Week 6 of Quarter 3 (December 8–12, 2025) is now available for free download for all grade levels.
This week’s DLL asks teachers to include meaningful themes in their lessons. It highlights the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on December 8 (a non-class day), Education Week (Proclamation No. 2399, s. 1985), and National Human Rights Consciousness Week (R.A. 9201). Teachers can use discussions, activities, and reflections to promote human rights awareness, inclusivity, and appreciation of education. Linking lessons to these observances helps students understand social issues and learn to support others in their community.
Using the DLL, teachers can plan activities that not only develop academic skills but also foster values and social responsibility. This tool guides educators in designing lessons that engage students in purposeful learning while linking classroom instruction to real-world events and national or global observances, making learning both relevant and meaningful.

Overview About the Matatag Curriculum
The Department of Education launched a revised version of the K-12 Basic Education Curriculum aimed at narrowing the competencies. The MATATAG Curriculum, whose name is derived from the department’s MATATAG Agenda, includes the following core principles:
- Make the curriculum relevant to produce competent, job-ready, active, and responsible citizens;
- Take steps to accelerate the delivery of basic education facilities and services.
- Take good care of learners by promoting learner well-being, inclusive education, and a positive learning environment; and
- Give support to teachers to teach better.
