As Grade 7 learners enter Quarter 4 of the MATATAG Curriculum, the focus shifts toward integration, application, and real-world relevance of what they have learned throughout the year. This quarter emphasizes strengthening critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills by engaging learners in tasks that require analysis, reflection, and informed decision-making. Lessons encourage students to connect concepts across disciplines, apply knowledge to everyday situations, and demonstrate deeper understanding through meaningful outputs rather than rote memorization.
The Daily Lesson Log (DLL) is a comprehensive guide that helps Grade 7 teachers in their planning and actual delivery of lessons. In addition, it aligns all learning activities with the framework and principles of the MATATAG Curriculum. These DLLs contain the targeted content and performance standards for Quarter 4 of Grade 7. Furthermore, they can also serve as a guide for learners on what to expect and how to engage in daily lesson implementation. You will notice a continuity in learning, making it easier to track progress and build on prior knowledge.
What is the MATATAG Curriculum for Grade 7?
The MATATAG Curriculum, launched by the Department of Education (DepEd) in 2022 and progressively implemented starting SY 2024–2025, represents a major overhaul of the K to 12 curriculum. For example, Grade 7 reform brings focused, relevant, and streamlined content designed to improve student mastery, reduce overcrowded learning competencies, and emphasize 21st-century skills.

The Grade 7 competencies in the Matatag Curriculum are streamlined to develop foundational knowledge and skills for the learners’ Junior High School journey. Also, the target competencies connect prior learning from elementary to secondary schooling. Furthermore, the curriculum reduces the number of learning competencies to focus on depth over breadth. It also realigns Grade 7 topics across quarters and subjects for logical progression and better retention. Most importantly, Quarter 4 of Grade 7 emphasizes critical thinking, collaboration, digital literacy, and values education.
