Department of Education’s Public Affairs Service (PAS) continued to implement various approaches to further engage stakeholders and the general public in the Department’s outreach efforts, using modern interactive social media technologies that have proven to be an effective way for DepEd to engage with its stakeholders.
However, comprehensive public communication remains the biggest challenge for DepEd as the largest government agency in the country due to the challenges of heavy reliance on traditional media.
To meet the challenges of heavy reliance on traditional media while meeting the demands of modern communications, PAS identified the need for a dedicated news channel for the Department of Education.
To be called DepEd TV News Channel, it will combine traditional television and social media for a hybrid medium that can easily address the issues and concerns of its ever-widening age groups and multimodal target audience, which can help the Department reach more students and parents nationwide .
