DepEd MATATAG Curriculum Guide (CG) and Budget of Work for Grade 4

Adapting to new approaches in teaching and learning, the Department of Education (DepEd) has set a roadmap for the review and updating of its MATATAG Curriculum Guide for Grade 4. The DepEd MATATAG Curriculum takes your child on a thrilling learning adventure in Grade 4! This program broadens their horizons with a variety of engaging learning areas:

  • Filipino and English: Refine communication skills in both languages. Students will delve into more complex grammar, build vocabulary, and hone their reading, writing, and speaking abilities.
  • Mathematics: Sharpen problem-solving skills with advanced mathematical concepts. Multiplication and division become more intricate, fractions and decimals take center stage, and students learn strategies to tackle challenging problems.
  • Science: Learners conduct exciting experiments, differentiate between living and non-living things, and uncover fascinating facts about the natural world, plants, animals, and the environment.
  • Araling Panlipunan (Social Studies): Embark on a journey through history and geography. Students delve into the Philippines’ rich past, explore diverse cultures around the world, and gain a deeper understanding of the world map and its regions.
  • Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan (EPP)/Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE): Develop practical life skills. Students explore basic home economics concepts such as cooking, sewing, and simple plant cultivation, depending on the school’s specialization.
  • Music & Arts: Express creativity through music and visual arts. Students learn about different musical styles, instruments, and techniques. They explore various art forms like drawing, painting, and sculpture, fostering their artistic talents.
  • Physical Education & Health: Promote a healthy lifestyle. Students participate in physical activities that improve coordination, fitness, and overall well-being. They also learn about healthy habits, hygiene, and the importance of a balanced diet.

In addition, DepEd will review the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs) implemented this school year and assess whether they are sufficient for learners to acquire knowledge and skills.

Budget of Work (BoW) for Grade 4

Grade 4 is a year of discovery and growing independence. Students begin to explore ideas with more confidence and curiosity. The Budget of Work (BoW) helps support this stage of learning. It lays out lessons in a clear and friendly flow. Thus, the teachers use it to plan meaningful activities each day. With the BoW, learning stays organized, engaging, and easy to follow throughout the year.
