Adapting to new approaches in teaching and learning, the Department of Education (DepEd) has set a roadmap for the review and updating of its MATATAG Curriculum Guide for Grade 9. The DepEd MATATAG Curriculum equips your Grade 9 student with a comprehensive foundation for senior high school through a variety of engaging learning areas:
- Filipino and English: Master communication skills in both languages. Students refine their writing, reading, and speaking abilities through more complex texts and discussions. They delve into literary analysis, explore various writing styles, and strengthen their vocabulary.
- Mathematics: Sharpen problem-solving skills with advanced mathematical concepts. Algebra takes center stage as students explore functions, equations, and inequalities. They also delve deeper into geometry and statistics, learning to apply mathematical principles to real-world scenarios.
- Science: Unravel the wonders of the natural world. Students explore different branches of science, such as Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, through in-depth studies and engaging experiments. They delve into topics like cell structure, chemical reactions, and the laws of motion, fostering a scientific perspective.
- Araling Panlipunan (Social Studies): Embark on a global exploration. Students delve into world history, focusing on major historical events and their impact on the present. They also explore different political systems, economic structures, and social issues across various regions, fostering a deeper understanding of the global landscape.
“Ang importante, marunong siyang magbasa at yung mga importanteng kaalaman at kasanayan. Kasi kahit hindi mo na yan turuan pag naging interesado yan, magbabasa yan at magdi-discover ng mundo on their own,” added Usec. San Antonio. In addition, DepEd will review the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs) implemented this school year and assess whether they are sufficient for learners to acquire knowledge and skills.

Budget of Work (BoW) for Grade 9 based on the Three-Term School Calendar
The Budget of Work (BoW) sets the direction for Grade 9 learning. It maps out what students will learn and when they will learn it. Each lesson builds on the last to strengthen understanding and skills. The BoW helps teachers plan clearly and teach with purpose. It also helps students stay focused, prepared, and confident throughout the school year.
