The Kindergarten Daily Lesson Log (DLL) here is revised to align with the new Matatag Curriculum and Three-Term School Calendar. It follows a learner-centered approach and supports the developmental needs of young learners. In addition, the DLL highlights “get-to-know-you” activities that help teachers and learners build positive connections. We also carefully reviewed the lessons to ensure they meet the required Kindergarten Term 1 competencies. It includes a total of 9 DLLs, covering Weeks 1 to 9, in the 2026–2027 school calendar.
The main teaching methods used in Kindergarten are play-based learning, hands-on activities, and differentiated instruction. We are happy to share these ready-made Kindergarten Daily Lesson Logs (DLL) with you. However, we still encourage teachers to review and improve them by adding their own ideas and strategies. Please note that this set only covers Term 1 of the Kindergarten MATATAG Curriculum.
Key Insights in the 1st Term of Kindergarten
For the first term, the Kindergarten MATATAG Curriculum centers on the Budget of Work theme, “Knowing Who We Are and Our Families.” During this period, learners slowly adjust to school routines. They also begin to understand themselves and their family relationships.
In addition, they develop basic skills in health, safety, literacy, and numeracy. Teachers introduce simple competencies in identifying oneself, expressing feelings, and recognizing body parts and senses. Likewise, learners build early awareness of letters and numbers through meaningful activities. To support this, instruction should stay interactive, play-based, and activity-focused. Teachers should avoid long discussions. Instead, they should use games, songs, stories, and hands-on tasks to make learning more engaging.

Moreover, the Kindergarten Daily Lesson Log (DLL) structures the day into routine parts such as Arrival Time, Meeting 1, Work Period 1, Work Period 2, and other activities. These routines help learners feel safe and comfortable. At the same time, they give repeated chances to practice both daily and weekly skills. Most competencies in the first term develop within a week. Because of this, teachers should not rush the lessons. Instead, they should reinforce skills through repeated and varied activities.
Finally, teachers should follow the suggested activities in the DLL and align them with the BOW sequence. This approach ensures that instruction stays learner-centered, developmentally appropriate, and suited to young learners’ need for repetition, guidance, and meaningful engagement.

What’s New in the Matatag Kindergarten Curriculum?
The MATATAG Curriculum for Kindergarten, especially for Term 1, focuses on the theme “Knowing Who We Are and Our Families.” The curriculum helps children understand basic skills and the Filipino value of “Paggalang” or respect. Because of this, most DLLs use simple and age-appropriate examples from the child’s daily life and conversations. These learning activities aim to help Kindergarten learners express their feelings and ideas with confidence.
Teachers deliver these competencies through play-based and learner-centered activities. As a result, children enjoy lessons that match their age, culture, and level of development. In addition, the curriculum connects learning across different domains to support the child’s overall growth and prepare them for formal elementary education.
Tips for Effective Use of DLL
You should always review the competencies included in the Daily Lesson Log (DLL) that you downloaded. Revise the content, activities, and other parts when needed to support effective teaching. In addition, localize your lessons whenever possible. Localization helps learners feel more included and connected to the lesson. You can also adjust the DLL based on your teaching context and personal teaching style.
Furthermore, we advise our users of these DLLs to report any inconsistencies or irrelevant content they may find. Simply email us at ict@alapan1es.com, and we will take the necessary steps to review and address your report. Lastly, check your printer settings before printing, as the document may not be fully compatible with all word processing software. These Kindergarten Week 1–12 DLL documents were created using the latest version of Microsoft Word 365, which may cause slight layout issues when opened in earlier versions of Microsoft Office.
