The Department of Education has fully implemented the MATATAG Curriculum together with the three-term school calendar. As a result, Grade 1 now follows revised and simplified competencies. This updated curriculum still builds on the K to 12 Program. Here, you can download what you need most—the Grade 1 Daily Lesson Log (DLL) for Term 1 of School Year 2026–2027, aligned with the MATATAG Curriculum.
In addition, the MATATAG Curriculum gives a strong focus on foundational skills in Grade 1. It highlights reading, writing, numeracy, and values formation. Because of this shift, many existing teaching resources, including the Daily Lesson Log, require updates. Teachers must revise these materials to ensure alignment with the new curriculum.
On the other hand, our Daily Lesson Logs are carefully prepared by teachers who specialize in Grade 1 subjects. They use flexible teaching strategies that suit different types of learners. Moreover, the DLLs follow the latest format and structure based on the MATATAG guidelines. Each lesson includes three clear parts: pre-lesson, lesson proper, and post-lesson. You can also be confident that all competencies used come directly from the revised curriculum.
Overview of the Grade 1 MATATAG Curriculum
The Department of Education included the Grade 1 MATATAG Curriculum as part of its restructured K to 12 program. Secretary Sonny Angara conducted in-depth inquiries and revealed that the original Grade 1 Curriculum under the K to 12 program needs revision. The findings reveal that the Grade 1 curriculum overloads students and neglects the development of basic learning skills.
The notable changes brought by the Matatag Curriculum in Grade 1 include the complete removal of the Mother Tongue subject. Also, MAPEH or Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health has emerged in the remaining subject areas. Furthermore, the DepEd has enhanced and renamed Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao to Good Moral and Right Conduct, similar to the subject offered in the 1990s. They have also renamed Araling Panlipunan to Makabansa to promote national identity and patriotism among learners.
Additionally, they have removed and restructured the two language subjects, Filipino and English, to focus solely on learning foundational skills. The department has merged these subjects under a new subject called Language, while students learn to apply these skills practically in Reading and Literacy.
Adoption of the Three-Term School Calendar
The Department of Education reorganized the school calendar to increase learning days. As a result, the distribution of competencies across terms was reviewed. Many believe that the three-term school calendar provides better focus on learning compared to the previous four-quarter system.
In line with this change, you can download our Daily Lesson Logs (DLL), which also follow the updated structure. For Grade 1, Term 1 lessons align with the prescribed content and performance standards below. We cannot list all competencies here in detail. However, you may refer to the prepared MATATAG Curriculum Guide for Grade 1 for complete details.

Importance of Daily Lesson Logs (DLL)
The Daily Lesson Log (DLL) is a crucial part of the teaching-learning process, serving as a structured planning tool. Through this tool, teachers can reflect on the expected outcomes of their interactions with learners. The teachers must craft their DLL to align and create classroom activities that address the curriculum standards. It is a way for the school to ensure learning effectiveness and organizational consistency.
The key roles of the DLL in the teaching-learning process include instructional planning, consistency, and innovation. Also, it is a tool for classroom management and time efficiency in facilitating the learning process. Thus, preparing the DLL for Term 1 of Grade 1 based on the Matatag Curriculum is a crucial part of a teacher’s job description and also serves as evidence of their professional skills. Teachers must regularly revisit their teaching practices and make necessary changes to their DLLs when needed.
