First Teacher-made Summative Tests for Term 1 | Free Download

The Department of Education (DepEd) introduced a new classroom assessment policy through DepEd Order No. 015, s. 2026. This policy aligns classroom assessments with the MATATAG Curriculum and the Three-Term School Calendar. For Term 1, schools will administer the first teacher-made Summative Test on July 6, 2026. It covers the competencies taught from Weeks 1 to 3 based on the Budget of Work (BOW). To support teachers, we gathered reliable sample summative tests that you can download and use as references in preparing your own assessments.

Under these updated guidelines, teachers prepare teacher-made Summative Tests that measure learners’ achievement based on the competencies they have actually taught during each instructional period.

To support teachers in implementing the new assessment system, we have compiled the First Teacher-made Summative Tests for Term 1 for various grade levels and learning areas. These ready-to-use and editable assessments are designed to align with the MATATAG Curriculum and follow the latest DepEd guidelines, helping teachers assess learner progress while reducing preparation time. Before using any test, teachers should review and adjust the content to match the competencies and lessons covered in their own classrooms.

What Are the First Teacher-made Summative Tests?

The First Teacher-made Summative Test (ST1) is the first formal examination that teachers prepare and administer within each academic term. Unlike standardized or division-wide tests, these assessments are created by the teacher. Also, these are based only on the lessons that learners have already completed. This ensures that every test matches the actual pace of instruction and the competencies taught in class.

Under DepEd Order No. 015, s. 2026, teachers are expected to give two Summative Tests (ST1 and ST2) and one Term Examination (TE) every term. The first Summative Test is generally given after the first 15 instructional days, covering only the competencies taught during that period. This approach allows teachers to monitor learners’ progress early, identify learning gaps, and provide timely interventions before the next set of lessons begins.

Coverage of the First Summative Test

The First Teacher-made Summative Test (ST1) covers the lessons taught during the first 15 instructional days of the term. Each question matches the learning competencies in the MATATAG Curriculum, so the test measures the skills and knowledge learners are expected to develop. It also includes only the lessons already discussed in class, making the assessment fair for everyone. Since teachers prepare the test themselves, they can create questions that fit their classroom instruction and respond to their learners’ needs.

The impact of each Summative Test on a learner’s grade varies by learning area because each subject gives a different weight to the Exam component. So, check the table below to see the exact percentage of every Summative Test and the Term Exam in your final grade.

Important Reminder for Teachers and Learners

Before giving the summative test, review every item to ensure it is clear, accurate, and aligned with the learning competencies. You may also revise or replace questions based on your learners’ progress and the lessons you have completed.

According to DepEd Order No. 015, s. 2026, each term includes two Summative Tests (ST1 and ST2) and one Term Examination (TE). As a guide, the number of items in each Summative Test should not exceed half of the total items in the Term Examination (TE).

Suggested number of items for each Summative Test (ST):

  • Grades 1–3: Teacher-determined (developmentally appropriate)
  • Grades 4–6: Up to 20 items
  • Grades 7–10: Up to 25 items
  • Grades 11–12: Up to 30 items

Most importantly, administer the assessment only after all the covered competencies have been taught. This ensures a fair and meaningful evaluation of what learners have actually learned.
